Forms of Payments

The Town Clerk accepts cash, personal checks, money orders, and credit cards. A $15 fee will be assessed for returned checks.

Dog Licenses

All dogs 4 months of age and older must be licensed. Fees are as follows: spayed/neutered $9, unspayed/unneutered $18. An updated copy of the rabies vaccination is required. Checks should be made payable to Attica Town Clerk. Dog licenses can be mailed to the Town Clerk's attention. Mail to: Attica Town Clerk, 9 Water Street, Attica, NY 14011. Hunting and Fishing Licenses

Photo ID is required.

Marriage Licenses

Marriage licenses require the presence of the bride and groom. Original birth certificates (with seal) , as well as a driver’s license or passport, are required for identification purposes. Divorced applicants must bring dated divorce papers. The cost is $40, made payable to the Attica Town Clerk. A marriage ceremony cannot occur until 24 hours after license issuance and the license is valid for up to 60 days.

Parking Permits for Persons with Disability

The Town Clerk issues the permit after your physician has filled out the required paperwork. Please see attached instructions and application. A valid photo ID is required. There is no fee for the permit.

Requests for Copies of Town Records (other than marriage, birth, death)

To request copies of Town records, please complete the FOIL request form and submit it to the Town Clerk. Copies will only be made after payment has been received. FOIL Request Form

Death Certificate Form:

Certified copies of death certificates can only be issued to a spouse, children, siblings, or parents of the deceased or other lawful representatives with medical or legal documentation.

If requesting by mail: Please complete the request form and submit with a notarized letter requesting the document, a copy of a government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, military ID).

If requesting in person: (please call ahead (585) 591-2920 option #8) a government-issued photo ID and a completed death certificate request form.

Fee: $10.00 payable to the Attica Town Clerk

Birth Certificate Form:

A certified copy of a certificate of live birth may only be issued to the following: the individual named on the certificate, a parent named on the certificate, a legal guardian, or by court order.

If requesting by mail: Please complete the request form and submit with a notarized letter requesting the document, a copy of a government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, military ID).

If requesting in person (please call ahead (585) 591-2920 option #8): a government-issued photo ID and a completed birth certificate request form.

Fee: $10.00 payable to the Attica Town Clerk

Genealogy Request Form:

Birth certificates - If on file for at least 75 years and the person whose name is on the birth certificate is known to be deceased.

Death certificates - If on file for at least 50 years.

Marriage certificates - if on file for at least 50 years and both spouses are known to be deceased.

The time periods are waived for direct line descendants. A direct line descendant is a person in the direct line of descent, i.e., the child, grandchild, great-grandchild of the person whose record is requested. The direct line descendant applicant must provide the following:
Proof of their relationship to the person whose record they are requesting.
Proof of the death of the person whose birth certificate they are requesting.
Proof of the death of both spouses whose marriage certificate they are requesting Genealogy Request Form:

Marriage Certificate Form:
